Festive greetings from the Core Theatre

The Core Theatre is currently closed at a time when we’d normally be in the middle of our very busiest time with the Pantomime and a family Studio show. The Encore café would be serving those delicious Turkey baguettes, it would have been full of Christmas shoppers and all our class participants would enjoy a festive mince pie after the last session of the year.

2020 has been hard for everyone and for theatres the hardest part is not having that wealth of performances, classes, courses, exhibitions and feeling of creativity taking place on a daily basis. We’ve got through this year using the wealth of support shown by performers, volunteers, local groups, audience members and regular visitors to the Core.

Our enforced closure has given us time to improve our backstage area, fit new cinema equipment, examine our programme and we even got all that filing done that had mounted up!

In 2021 The Core will be returning with a strong performance line up and also a new programme of film and livestreaming events.

Request for help in 2021 – we’re looking for representatives of the local community who are interested in, and have a knowledge of film, across all genres to help with film selection. Key to our film programme is having a diverse offer that will attract new audiences to The Core. So from Bollywood to Hollywood, help us light up the Core’s new Big Screen. If you’re interested please email thecoretheatre@solihull.gov.uk  describing your interests and we’ll contact you in January.

Exciting times lie ahead and we are definitely looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the venue as soon as we can.

The Core Theatre would like to wish you a Happy Christmas, plus a creative and sociable New Year!

Lawrence Smith – Theatre Manager
