Anya Small is the talented Choir Director behind “Sing Solihull”, the weekly choral group held at The Core, for all ages and abilities, run in collaboration with Solihull BID. Although Sing Solihull sessions are currently on hiatus, Anya has set up a Virtual Voices Choir to tide people over until they start again.
Virtual Voices will be taking place at the same time as Sing Solihull, on Thursdays at 1pm, using the video-chat tool Zoom to conduct the sessions. The first session will be taking place on Thursday 2 April at 1pm. If you’re not sure about how to use Zoom, click here for a helpful guide.
You do not have to be an existing member of Sing Solihull in order to join Virtual Voices and in fact, the first 3 sessions will be completely free, so that you can give it a go and see what you think. Starting 23 April, you can then sign up to a 12-week block of sessions at a cost of just £36 (£3 per session) for those who want to continue.
See this as a great opportunity to take up singing as a new hobby. Singing is well-known for being good for you, as it releases endorphins, the feel-good brain chemical that makes you feel uplifted and happy. Singing also promotes relaxation, as it can release muscle tension and lower stress levels. It is also a good activity for taking your mind off of other things, which encourages mindfulness.
We hope you will get involved with Anya’s Virtual Voices Choir, and look forward to seeing you at our Sing Solihull choir sessions when they start again.
