This new one-off course is aimed at people who have done a DNA test, or those thinking of doing one, and are wondering how the results will help with family history research. The session will consider only autosomal tests (the most popular type of DNA test, which tests all your recent ancestors, not just the male (Y-DNA) or female (mitochondrial DNA) lines). It will show you how to interpret results from the most commonly-used companies (e.g. Ancestry, Family Tree DNA, Find My Past) as well as suggesting strategies for understanding your “matches” and combining DNA results with documentary research.
