Get active and creative in 2026 with a wide range of classes and courses for adults and young people at The Core in Solihull!

The Core offers a friendly and welcoming environment to try out new activities, develop your skills, build your confidence and meet new people. 

Professional writer and journalist Wersha Bharadwa leads a range of creative writing courses – her Creative Writing course (Mondays from 12 Jan) is perfect for adults who want to explore different types of writing as a hobby. For more experienced writers, The Write Space (Thursdays from 15 Jan) is a course for aspiring authors to share ideas and develop their skills further.

Young Solihull Writers (Wednesdays from 14 Jan) is a creative writing course for children aged 7-11 to unlock their awesome imagination in a relaxed and welcoming environment, while Solihull Teen Writers Academy (Mondays from 12 Jan) is a fun, friendly and inclusive course where young people aged 11-15 can find their unique voice and unleash their creativity!

Learn to DJ (Wednesday evenings from 14 Jan) is now open to both young people and adults! Led by professional musician and DJ Sophielou, this course is perfect for music lovers of all ages who want to learn the art of DJ’ing, including how to use a DJ controller and smoothly mix two songs together. Choose from a beginners or intermediate class for ages 10-16, or the adults’ class for ages 18 and up.

For young artists aged 8-13, Creating Comic Strips (Mondays from 12 Jan) is a great first step on the path to creating comics, exploring drawing and visual storytelling techniques to bring ideas to life!

The highly successful Core Youth Theatre (Thursdays from 15 Jan) is a fantastic opportunity for children and young people to develop their theatre skills and creativity in a fun, and engaging environment. Choose from groups for ages 7-10 or 11-16. 

For adult wanting to learn about and explore acting, Introduction to Acting (Thursdays from 15 Jan) will develop your acting skills in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. This course includes group exercises, drama games and improvisation, along with a range of approaches to acting techniques. Also on Thursdays, the brand new Audition Technique and Preparation course will help budding actors learn audition techniques, refine their skills and workshop a full audition with hands-on support. 

Light 52 – Intermediate (Thursdays from 15 Jan) is a follow-on photography course for those who have completed the beginner course or want to refine their existing photography skills further. Explore different types of photography with new trials and challenges.
