Magnificent horses galloping across the gallery, charging across land, water and generations; messages carried by regal birds, telling stories across time; dragons, great beasts of myth and legend; and destiny delivered to the hands of a young boy, who has the power to unite us all…
This exhibition celebrates artwork created by students aged 7-17 during Art at the Heart’s programmes: Art Club, ArtLab and Youth Arts. It draws inspiration from the legend of King Arthur and its enduring themes of bravery, strength, compassion, honour, equality and empowerment - with art at the heart of it all.
From crumbling, tapestry-like charcoal drawings to rich and sophisticated paintings, the artwork - like the legend - is colourful, courageous and bold. Beyond the mythical world, the exhibition also turns its gaze towards the artists themselves. Bridging the gap between myth and modernity, Youth Arts presents the faces of the future: expressive, individual self-portraits by the teenage artists of Solihull, each offering a glimpse into the identities and imaginations of young people who have found a creative space to call their own.
The annual Artists of Tomorrow exhibition is curated by Art at the Heart on a voluntary basis, giving back to the community while providing a platform for young people - the future custodians of our world - to build their confidence. Come and see the incredible artwork on display and be inspired by the artists shaping tomorrow.
If your child is serious about art, come and talk to award-winning teaching artists Mukesh Kumar and Kamaljit Suman to find out what makes our classes different.
