Graphic Abstraction by Richard Rudge

Richard is a visual artist with a background in comic book illustration.He has worked as a freelance artist for several years, creating bespoke artwork for clients, and exhibiting his own artwork and comics at comic conventions around the UK. Richard has a very identifiable graphic style that tries to walk a line between realism and expressive linework.

In 2020 Richard took part in the 'Burton Swan Trail' as well as the “Big Burton Carousel Trail” in 2022, organized by “Making Trails". https://www.makingtrails.co.uk/ 

In addition to his traditional illustration Richard has been experimenting with canvas painting. Using paint pouring in combination with his traditional inking techniques to make pieces with vibrant colour and contrasting detail.

The paint informs what the image will be based on how the paint falls on the canvas, making each one something of an improvisation
