Art at the Heart CIC is holding a family fun day of creative and cultural activities to celebrate Holi, the festival of colour on 19th March 2022, 10am - 4pm around The Core.  Take part in FREE artistic creations including:

Science in Art - Creative Technologies 10am-12.15pm & 1-3pm drop in sessions. Explore 3D holograms, responsive light and a musical harp with strings of light. We’ve teamed up with Aston University (ETICC) to bring you immersive and interactive technological developments.  This is a free drop-in workshop. No booking required.

Be part of a giant evolving colour weave! This is a free drop-in workshop at 10am-12.15pm or 1pm-3pm. No booking required.

Make a monumental mural  in paisley. This is a free drop-in workshop 10-12.15pm or 1-3pm. No booking required.

Kaleidoscope Corner £3 per child at 11.15am and 2pm. Please pre-book. Make your own mini kaleidoscope alongside a giant projection art piece created by Youth Artist Aiva Dovaston.  

Splat Art Workshop £3 per child  at 10am and 1pm.  Please pre-book. Have fun throwing paint bombs with us to create unique splat artwork. An unique spin on Holi!

Bubble Art Workshops £3 per child at 11.15am and 2pm. Please pre-book. Help us create giant community artworks out of multi-coloured bubbles. Pure fun!

Indian Miniature Painting £7 per child for ages 7-11 years at 1pm. Please pre book.  Create your own miniature masterpiece exploring colour inspired by Indian culture. Workshop fee includes a frame for your work.

Creative Writing Taster Sessions £3 per child at 10am and 1pm. Please pre-book. Have you ever been intrigued by the beautiful names of colours such as vermilion or viridian? Join us to explore colour in a unique way – through words!

Colour: What’s all the fuss about? Spotlight on Indigo. 11.15am (one hour) aimed at ages 7-adult.  Workshop is free but please book as numbers are limited.  You probably own at least one pair of jeans – but have you ever wondered where denim’s distinctive colour comes from? Join us in exploring indigo’s roots in India. 

Children can also enter our art competition for a chance to win prizes worth up to £450!  Two categories: ages 5-10 and ages11-18years so get creative!  How to enter: 

Create your own imaginative and colourful interpretation of Holi that captures the joy of spring. Use any art materials to create the artwork. Label your work with your name and age.  Maximum size: A3  Deadline is  Thursday 17th March 5pm (deliver your entry to The Core into an artwork trolley next to the Box Office).  Judging will take place on the day and prizes will be awarded by the Mayor of Solihull at 3.15pm so worth a visit to take part in some of the above activities and see the other entries on display - Good luck!
