One-night-only script development sharing of News Story, a new play written by Naylah Ahmed.
Comedy often makes light of the real world by turning it into the absurd – but what happens when the real world has become comically absurd already? This R&D of a new piece written by beloved playwright Naylah Ahmed will be workshopped with a team of Birmingham-based actors and creatives, who will help us explore what happens to news when it becomes a 'news story'.
The week of R&D will culminate in this event - a work-in-progress, script-in-hand sharing of the play as it exists, directed by Craig Stephens.
Do you have a nose for the news? Have you given up on the news for some reason? Are you passionate about current events? Could you care less about what happens beyond your world? No matter who you are, this play will have something for you! Join us to explore this work-in-progress, see Birmingham creatives centred in a development process, and give your own thoughts on the future of this exciting new play!
