Autism Friendly Panto at the Core Theatre

Award winning Little Wolf Productions are producing the Core Theatre’s annual Panto, Sleeping Beauty, and are ensuring everyone can enjoy their holiday antics!

The first ever ‘relaxed performance’ is being provided on Friday 4th January.  Designed to welcome audiences who may find the usual theatre experience uncomfortable or difficult.  This might include children and adults on the autism spectrum, with dementia or many other conditions that may prevent them from attending or enjoying this traditional family show.

A typical pantomime show can mean loud noises or pyrotechnics, bright lights or darkness and the general chaos of finding your seat in a busy, noisy venue so it’s easy to become overwhelmed, particularly first-time attenders.

However, in a ‘relaxed’ performance the house lights may be left on or merely dimmed, theatre doors left open, fewer loud effects during the show plus the cast may introduce themselves to explain what will happen, so audiences can know what to expect and be ready for it.  Little alterations make a big difference and can make a theatre trip great fun for those who would never normally feel comfortable attending.
