Have you ever wondered how to transform a photograph of a boat into a beautiful, expressive watercolour painting? This six-week course will guide you through the complete creative process, helping you move beyond simply copying a reference image and towards creating a painting in your own individual style.
Working from a photograph of a boat on water, you will learn how to analyse and simplify the image before beginning a series of preparatory studies. The course starts with pencil sketches that explore composition, shape, tonal values and focal points.
These will be followed by monochrome watercolour studies, allowing you to develop an understanding of light, tone and atmosphere before introducing colour. Using these studies as a foundation, you will then create a finished A3 watercolour painting of the boat.
Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on interpretation rather than replication, encouraging you to make creative decisions that reflect your own artistic voice and style.
Whether you are completely new to art or have previous painting experience, this course provides a supportive and enjoyable environment in which to develop your skills and confidence.
