
Those of you familiar with Mel Brooks' work will know that you are in for an enormous amount of fun and laughter with The Producers!
Based on the 1968 film, The Producers follows Max Bialystock (toast of Broadway, turned washed-up has-been) as he encounters mousy accountant Leo Bloom, and together the pair concoct a plan to make more money with a flop of a show than they ever could with a hit!
They set out to produce the worst musical ever to hit Broadway, with the worst script, the worst director, and the worst cast they can find. They believe that by selling shares in the project, they'll have enough money to produce the show ... and then head off to Rio with their spoils when the show inevitably closes after just one performance. Too bad for Bialystock & Bloom that, against all odds, the show is a smash hit!
With no shortage of show-stopping musical numbers, and Brooks’ signature humour, brought to the stage by St Augustine's MTC, this is one musical that is sure not to be a flop!
