Who is this project for?

Solihull residents–you can work with friends, family, solo or with online participants.

What is Message in a Bottle about?

It’s a community project aiming to capture local lockdown experiences in a bottle. Imagine you are sending an SOS out. What would you say? You can use words/pictures or anything else that you can think of to create a message. Who knows what message might come back? Events are friendly, supportive and bring people together to share ideas.

You will need:

  • A wide necked plastic bottle–(so we can put things inside)–family juice/smoothie bottles are ideal. Openings must be cut by an adult if you decide to have one;
  • Worksheet/some paper to note ideas (downloadable worksheets available);
  • Pencil to write/draw with;
  • Materials–you don’t need special materials; use whatever is available to decorate your bottle (coloured paper/magazines/collage/buttons/pebbles/found materials).

Support and Guidance–online workshops are live and we’re here to help.

If you send a photo of your Message in a Bottle creation to admin@artattheheartcic.org we’ll include it in a Library window display.

Message in a Bottle is part of Reading Friends, a Reading agency initiative. The Solihull Reading Friends programme is a collaboration between Solihull Libraries , The Core Theatre Solihull and Art at the Heart CIC. The aim of Reading Friends is to start conversations and connect people who are lonely and isolated. We are delighted to offer a varied programme including other events such as Storytime LIVE, Unfolding Stories, and Have I got Local History News For You!.
