Scott Bennett, stand-up comedian, writer and pioneer of viral hit 'Stand Up from The Shed' headlines a hilarious night of comedy in the Studio at The Core! Featuring Alexandra Haddow, James Danielewski and Adam Beardsmore.

Funny to The Core is the NEW monthly comedy club in the Studio at The Core, bringing the best and funniest UK comedy talent to Solihull.

Headlined by the hilarious Scott Bennett! After starting comedy in late 2009, Scott is a stand-up comedian and writer whose star is most definitely on the rise. His last two shows Leap Year and Relax were nominated for ‘Best Show’ at the Leicester Comedy Festival and has been named by Chortle as One To Watch for 2018 and 19. In 2023 he recorded his first Radio 4 special “Stuff” for BBC Radio 4 and in the same year he supported Mickey Flanagan on tour including a 10,000 seat arena show in Nottingham.

In 2021 he recorded his debut for Live at the Apollo BBC1. You will have heard him as a regular guest on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, The Now Show, The Likely Dads and Elephant in the Room with Sarah Millican. He also appeared on The Summer Festival with Daliso Chaponda, The Comedy Club with Arthur Smith, and Knock Knock with Helen Lederer. In 2018, he also featured on the BBC One show, Live from The Edinburgh Fringe.

During the lockdown of 2020, Scott pioneered the viral hit, Stand up from the Shed, a weekly topical live streamed stand up show from his actual garden shed. The show achieved national coverage in the press, Sky News, BBC News and Five Live. At the end of 2020, in the Comics Comic awards Scott was voted “Best Act” a prestigious award decided by comedians and promoters in the industry. Previous winners include Mick Ferry, Zoe Lyons and Ian Stone. In 2022 he was nominated as Best Club Comedian in the Chortle awards. In 2017 and 18 Scott supported his comedy hero, Rob Brydon on his National UK tour dates for his latest show I am Standing Up and was selected to do support slots for Jason Manford and John Bishop. He also worked alongside Michael McIntyre as part of his work in progress shows at the Duchess Theatre in London with Kerry Godliman, Russell Kane and Ed Gamble.

Opening the show is Alexandra Haddow! Alexandra is a London based comedian and writer and one of the most popular acts on the UK comedy circuit. A regular at comedy clubs all over the country, she expertly walks the fine line between cheeky and outright smut. A stalwart of the festival scene, she has performed at Glastonbury, Latitude, Reading festivals and has supported comedy icons Frankie Boyle, Tommy Tiernan and Bill Bailey, and hosts Dulwich Hamlet Comedy every month.

Her hotly anticipated debut show, Not My Finest Hour, sold out its entirety at the Edinburgh Fringe 2023, including two extra shows. The show received critical acclaim, after previously being nominated for Best Debut Show at Leicester Comedy Festival Awards 2023. 

Originally from the East Midlands Alexandra has a growing social media following, having racked up over 2 million views online with, with her acerbic tweets and videos regularly going viral. She has appeared on Comedy Central Live, with her radio credits including appearances on BBC6 Music, BBC Radio 4 Extra's Comedy Club, and countless podcasts.

With James Danielewski! James has a lovely upbeat and friendly Northern accent. He is a Brighton-based stand-up comedian originally from Grimsby with amazing and natural comedic timing.He was the runner-up in the Komedia New Comedy Award 2024, a finalist in the LGBT+ New Comedian of The Year 2024 and the Winner of ‘One To Watch’ at Brighton Fringe 2023.
